Tesla vehicles is Being Scrutinized Again after Crash

Tesla is again under scrutiny from the United States Federal Government due to Tesla vehicles. In Detroit, a Tesla vehicle crashed into the trailer of a semi-truck. In 2016, Joshua Brown, 45-years old, died in a collision with a truck during the Autopilot mode. He was using the Tesla Model S, and the crash happened in Florida.

The accident was the first time the Tesla vehicles faced a fatal crash using Autopilot, and it was highly publicized. Joshua or Autopilot did not notice the truck’s trailer crossing the highway. Finally, the car ended up underneath the trailer. The Autopilot drove quite a distance before coming to a complete stop.

This accident had caused a federal investigation into Tesla’s Autopilot system. Without finding any defect or issuing any recall, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) ended its investigation. A similar accident happened again in 2019 in a Model 3.

Last week in Detroit, the third one happened. This time the accident was not fatal, but it caused severe injuries to the two people present in the Tesla vehicles. The accident report claims that Tesla crashed into the trailer of a semi-truck. The front half of the electric car went underneath the trailer.

Currently, it is unclear if the vehicle was using Autopilot mode at the time of the crash. However, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has launched an investigation of the same. Previously, NTSB has scrutinized Tesla accidents and has also criticized Tesla for its Autopilot features.

Unlike the NHTSA, the NTSB has no power over automakers. Hence, NHTSA has also announced its investigation launch today.
